The search for the silver bullet

We all crave that silver bullet to solve our problems. A clear example is the weight loss mania that is sweeping our society. On TV, social and print media, we are being drowned with different types of miracle pills that are supposed to help you lose weight.

As expected, these adverts are aimed at women who have fantasies of shedding body fat. I have talked about this ad nausea, to lose weight, all you have to do is watch what you eat. Our bodies are basically “garbage in garbage out”. Simple math – if you put in more than what you burn out, you will be left with more, and that “more” would need to be stashed somewhere.

I lost 30 pounds in a month. I did so by changing my eating habits – out with the soda, out with the ice cream, out with the pie, in with the broccoli, carrots, celery etc. Also, exercise. If you change your eating habits, all you’ve done is cap your extra weight gaining actions. The clincher, should be burning what has been stashed in your body which exercising should be responsible for.

There is no silver bullet to weight loss. The sure way to attain your ideal weight is developing healthy habits.
